Our Visions, Our Work

Art for life.

Barbara Kennison and Madonna Walters are both artists with shared roots in northern Michigan and in the nursing profession. They have each balanced long careers in nursing with simultaneous careers in art.

What is it like to manage both of these careers throughout your life? The practice of nursing requires the application of science along with a large dose of empathy, to create a common experience with patients. This shared experience is meant to heal the mind and body. Florence Nightingale called this the Art of Nursing.

Working as an artist allows one to summon the powers of the unconscious and the spirit. In this way, each artist creates a unique vision of their external and internal world.

Melding the two has been a lifelong goal of both Barbara and Madonna.
